Martin heeft ons rondgereden door de prachtige natuur rondom Arvika met als doel Elanden te zien. Hij weet precies de plekjes te vinden, wist heel veel te vertellen over het gedrag van de dieren, de natuur en over zweden. Heel interessant en op een leuke manier.

We troffen 9 elanden, waaronder een moeder met 2 kalfjes die vlak voor ons het pad overstaken, een eland die appels aan het stelen was in een tuin etcetc:):), reeën (bokken, geiten en kalfjes), een wild zwijn en sneeuwhazen. We hebben hele mooie luchten/ zonsondergang/ uitzicht over meren gezien.

Mijn man was vooraf vrij sceptisch, want hij zag toch nooit wat! Dat was snel voorbij, hij vond het geweldig.

De Moose safari was boven verwachting. We hoopten in ieder geval één Eland te spotten maar aan het eind van de avond stond de teller op meer dan 10! Ondertussen hebben van alles van de Zweedse natuur gezien. Martin heeft veel kennis van de natuur en de dieren en weet waar de mooiste plekjes te vinden zijn. We hebben niet alleen elanden gezien maar ook ander wild zoals herten, reeën en vosjes. Onze avond was meer dan geslaagd en Martin is als gids zeer kundig en prettig in de omgang.

According to Martin, there are two kinds of people: those who book a moose safari months before their trip, and those who wait until the very last minute. Unsurprisingly, we belonged to the second group.

With 300,000–400,000 moose roaming Sweden, we figured, “How hard can it be to spot one?” Well… after two weeks of road-tripping through Sweden, we had managed to see exactly zero.

So, on the very last evening before heading back to Belgium, we called in a professional. As a bonus, Martin could guide us in Dutch, which made the experience even more fun for our daughters.

By then we had already done our homework. We knew moose have an incredible sense of smell, poor eyesight, and excellent hearing. So, dressed in dark clothes (and probably smelling slightly less terrible than usual), we were picked up for what we jokingly called our “last chance safari.”

Martin quickly proved that reading about moose and actually finding them are two very different things. Within minutes we realised we had been doing almost everything wrong during the previous two weeks!

Thanks to his knowledge, sharp eyes, and endless enthusiasm, we ended the evening with 4 magnificent moose, 8 fallow deer, 3 capercaillies, countless roe deer, and a lot of fascinating facts about Sweden’s king of the forest. No, it wasn’t Martin’s all-time record, and sadly no white moose made an appearance, but for us it was absolutely perfect.

Thank you, Martin, for a wonderful, educational, and memorable evening. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our Swedish adventure.

Tip for future visitors: Book your safari at the beginning of your trip, not at the end like we did. Martin will teach you what to look for, and you’ll have the rest of your holiday to put those tips into practice—and hopefully spot even more moose on your own!

Martin is een enthousiaste kerel die graag vertelt over zijn passie: de natuur. Weet veel en staat open voor vragen. Prachtige tour gemaakt en veel dieren gespot. Zelfs een bunzing wat zeldzaam is zei Martin. Vele reeën, kraanvogels, buizerd, valk en tijdens de schemer wel 8 elanden gezien! Zonder de elanden vonden we het al geweldig maar dit was de kers op de taart! Die verrekijker was super. Dank voor de mooie avond!

Martin är en jättetrevlig och kunnig guide. Han kände till området väl och gjorde allt för att vi skulle få bra chanser att se och fotografera älgar. I slutet av kvällen såg vi 16st älgar och det var en häftig upplevelse!

We truly had a fantastic time on the tour with Martin. Not only did we spot many animals, but Martin was also very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts about the wildlife and life in Sweden in general. He made us feel very comfortable and was very patient while we took lots of pictures and asked questions.

Martin’s concept of enabling people to spot moose on their own after the tour is also great.

In the end, we saw a total of eight (!) moose, including a mother with her baby and two bulls from quite close up. We were truly lucky to get a last-minute spot on the tour, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience!

We had an amazing evening with Martin. From the moment we started, he made us feel relaxed and welcome. His knowledge of the local wildlife was impressive, and he shared fascinating facts throughout the tour.

His ability to spot animals was incredible. He noticed wildlife we would never have seen ourselves, including baby birds hidden in the grass. The highlight of the evening was definitely the moose — we saw six!

The pace of the tour was perfect. Whenever we spotted an animal, he stopped so we could take our time watching and photographing it. There was never any pressure to move on. We enjoyed a little break by a lake with coffee, soft drinks, and snacks.

Because Martin only offers private tours, everything felt personal and tailored to us. We could ask as many questions as we wanted, chat about nature, and simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

We can’t recommend Martin highly enough for an authentic wildlife experience .

Martin is very friendly, told us all kind of trivia about the animals we saw. He could spot animals very easy, even baby birds in high grass. He knew exactly where to go and went above and beyond for us to see moose! We saw 6 in total! We had a great evening, with easy flowing conversations and all kinds of animals to see. We had a break with a drink (coffee, cola,..) and a little snack, at a beautiful location near a lake. Martin drove in a nice car, took his time when we saw animals and didn’t drive fast. There was no rush, just enjoying nature. It was training, but he didn’t mind us opening his car windows for a better view or to take pictures. He only gives private tours so he can give you all of his time and attention for the best experience.

My friend and I really enjoyed our Moose Safari with Martin in June, 2026! He drove us all over the beautiful countryside where we saw two varieties of deer, cranes, wild swans, a beaver, and a young moose! Martin knows the animals and their habits so well, plus he could answer all of our questions. His tour was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Sweden. Most highly recommended!
